    Hare Rama Krishna

I was trying to find the derivation/logic of mapping dwadsha aditya’s to various Rashi and ran into following problem.

The mapping as given to us is as follows: http://srath.com/vedic-astrology-the-philosophy/aditya-vertical

    Aditya

One of the key sources which gives a detailed of Dwadasha Aditya is Srimad Bhagavatam 12.11.27-49. The following tables have been taken from http://harekrsna.de/surya/12adityas.htm

Shrimad Bhagvatam uses the old vedic names of months (Madhu etc) for linking to Aditya.

Below is the actual sanskrit verses of relevant portion of Canto 12 of Shrimad Bhagvatam

Now while the order in which the Adityas are mentioned is the same as given my Guruji the months mentioned there do not map with the right Rashi’s. However, if we look at Vayu Puran as another sources which gives the same details. https://archive.org/details/VayuPuranaG.V.TagarePart1

See 12-15 and 20-23 which gets the order somewhat as per our study.

Sorry for the long ramble but it took sometime for me to get this in place so thought will share with others and get Gurujis thoughts on his derivation.

    Reg

Sonal, it does match with what I have taught.

dhAtA Aditya is associated with madhu=mAsa which is Aries (Mesha) in the Vedic calendar

Chaitra is when the full moon occurs in Chitra nakshatra which means Sun is towards the End of Pisces and Beginning of Aries. Chitra nakshatra spans Virgo and Libra. Be careful with lunar months and the purana

    Hare Rama Krishna

Guruji, the issue I had was with the following four mappings:

    १२११०४३३ ब्रह्मापेतोऽथ सतजिद्धृतराष्ट्र इषम्भराः
    १२११०४४१ विष्णुरश्वतरो रम्भा सूर्यवर्चाश्च सत्यजित्
    १२११०४४३ विश्वामित्रो मखापेत ऊर्जमासं नयन्त्यमी

    For example

    पूषा ->तपोमासं -> Magha -> Aquarius
